Comprehending Reparations

Hello fellow bloggers and readers. Please click the word reparations to see the original post.

America is in a dire spot. Our presidential election is a joke and civil unrest is extremely high. Not to mention the racial tension that is at an all time high in the US.

Per the title of this post, let’s talk about reparations and what they would really mean.

According to, a reparation is “the making of amends for wrong or injury done”. If you know American history, then you know that Americans have done a lot of which to be ashamed.

For example, the genocide of Native Americans and the enslavement of Africans.

Now, we all know slavery has ended. Around 150 years ago. However, that does not mean that the after effects of slavery are not being felt anymore.

In fact, we can safely say that the racism (ethnicism) and oppression felt during slavery has found a way to wiggle into the background of our lives.

Now, I do not intend to make this post etremely long, as giving examples can go on for days.

People have been questioning how American plans to apologize to blacks for the years of turmoil caused by slavery and the years of racism after that. In the video in the link, a woman merely talked about the possibility reparations for blacks from the US.

Now, normally this wouldn’t be an issue, but if you are able to, read the comments on the video. It was the comment posted by a person that I will not name. Through his post, it made me believe that this person does not fully comprehend the history and the struggle of blacks in America. Not to mention he is not American, not black, and has never once in his life had to struggle for anything.

I urge you to please watch the video, and read the comments.
